A quick guide

Use the number with context

The answer is only useful when you know what it includes and what it leaves out.

How to use it

  1. Enter deposit principal using the same currency and period assumptions as the other fields.
  2. Enter annual interest rate using the same currency and period assumptions as the other fields.
  3. Enter tenure in months using the same currency and period assumptions as the other fields.
  4. Enter compounding frequency using the same currency and period assumptions as the other fields.

Formula

Maturity = principal × (1 + annual rate ÷ compounding frequency)^(compounding frequency × years).

The maturity is an arithmetic illustration using the declared rate and frequency, not a bank quote.

Make it concrete

Worked example

A ₹1,00,000 deposit at 7% compounded quarterly for 12 months produces a maturity value of approximately ₹1,07,185.90.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does this include TDS or tax?

No. Tax and TDS depend on the product and your circumstances and are intentionally outside this arithmetic model.

Can I use a bank’s advertised rate?

Yes, as your own assumption after checking the bank’s current product terms and eligibility conditions.
